Despite being ranked 19th in the country at his weight, Tomi earns only a small amount a year from professional boxing – from which he must deduct the cost of his daily 120 mile round trip to the gym to train.
It was so expensive to sustain his boxing, Tomi was forced to move back in with his parents and take up a second job as a plasterer. Eventually he had to stop plastering because he couldn’t work it around his training, and he is now unemployed.
Tomi sees this as an opportunity to get some cash behind him and says that he would use the money earned from sheep shearing to fund his future in boxing. He said that it would go towards medicals, license, fuel and diet.
