Although she is described by her brother as being ‘the gel that holds the family together’, Darcie actually wants to be a lot more independent and go her own way.
She hopes that this experience will take her out of her comfort zone and force her to adapt to new surroundings and new people.
Darcie’s family have not always been secure financially and Darcie even took out a pay day loan, so a major motivation for completing one of the world’s toughest jobs is to earn some cash for both herself and her family.
