Tom Varey on Bert
"Now Bert is older he is certain there is more to life than just the village, but he feels an intense loyalty towards his family and the farm and is torn between ambition and loyalty. Bert still has a frayed relationship with father and loves his mother and would do anything for her.
It's been an incredible experience and I feel very lucky to have been a part of such a great dramaTom Varey
"In this series Bert goes on a real journey and certainly gets into a few scraps along the way. He is uncertain of who to trust, who to love and what to believe in. It was a real challenge to play someone who is so torn but I really enjoyed the challenge! He's 21 and becomes quite hot headed as series goes on; and is romantically torn with what love is and who he actually loves. And then his relationship with his parents is turned on its head...
"I dedicated a lot of time to being prepared and making sure I was ready to take on roles whilst at RADA – but this was beyond expectations! It's been an incredible experience and I feel very lucky to have been a part of such a great drama. I was even given a day off filming so I could do my final showcase back at college and graduate!"
