Gaelic poetry of 30th June-translation:-

THE TIE

We will sail across the ocean
Well known to us
Where we'll see our kindred
Waiting paitently
There will be much merriment
And songs.

We would not desire to be astray
When our native land is near
Our relatives and friends close by
And each neighbour will meet us
Ready with a welcome:
Stories told in gaelic are splendid.

The day's occupation is tiresome
But evening brings submission:
There will be reels and music
Through the night
The youths well groomed
And the girls absolutely pretty.

Each joy will just last so briefly
And the holidays will suddenly end:
Parting with each other
Won't be a simple matter
But there are promises in each reckoning
Spoken in good hope
And a caution to our friends
Not to forsake us.
