Walking out the glen

Since it is such a lovely day today decided to go for a walk out 'the glen'. This is on the way out the Abhuinnsuidhe road just before a place called Miavig. It is such a lovely place to go for a walk. Its really tranquil and really quiet. You can leave all your worries behind when you come here cos its like being in a completely different world!

This is the first thing you see when turning off the main road to go the five odd miles to get to the glen:

eh?!

Pretty confusing names eh?!

Then you pass the old whaling station at Buna

Then theres some of the views you get going out the very bumpy road! The poor wee man wasn't half getting joogled in his buggy but he didn't seem to mind!

Hope in this next picture you can see just how crystal clear the water is

crystal clear

Then on the way home took this shot of Taransay

Then we saw a whole heap of cows with their calfs on the road but this cheeky faced one got my attention the most:

I hope you enjoy some of the sights we saw out on our walk as much as we did!

great photos IL,thanks for sharing them with us

carol from spring is in the air

The calf ran off before I could see it. Or am I going blind? No, I saw all the other photographic master-pieces, maybe I'm just Calf-Blind???

Tws from The Croft Lewis

I was trying to see if the phone lines were down in your part of the world. I'm trying to reach someone by phone in Barvas but stumbled across this - My husband and I are coming for a visit in a couple of weeks to Lewis, your pictures almost made me cry. This is the Scotland I want to see when we get there. Thank you.

Debbie (mum mum) from Canada

Imagine you not being able to spot a bovine creature Tws and you with all your enthusiasm for moo-coos too!

Flying Cat from Calf Rock

Some really nice photos, I.L. Well done.

Duncan from Brum

should have said (just incase anyones interested) the wee stoppach you can see in the photo of the whaling station at Buna, under the date, is the grave of a doggie owned by a norwegian. Mind full of useless information?!

Tws is absolutely right for once, in my edition there are definitely no calves, nor cows, not otters, nor cats (for once!), not even a black labrador maurauding. Noddinks! Now that is a curious thing.

Barney from Swithiod two calf-blindeds

IL thanks for a trip down one of my fav places on the islands, when I lived on Scalpay some days i would put some lunch in the car then when i finished my homehelp work I would drive down to Huisinis, I loved the walk up the cliff over to the beach north of Huisinis, haven't been since I have been car less, thanks again,
