Can you tell us about your career so far?
My career so far has included a degree in circus arts specialising in extremely difficult aerial straps. I was the first female on the degree course to do so at the National Centre of Circus Arts. I recently spent a year performing in Cirque du Soleil’s Beatles Love in Las Vegas as an aerialist/acrobat.
What qualities does it take to compete professionally in gymnastics?
You have to be mentally tough and get yourself motivated for every single session. There has to be a goal and a vision so you can have something to push yourself towards otherwise the hard work, tears and pulled muscles are for nothing. Gymnastics doesn't stop just there, you have to see beyond the leotards and chalk. It can lead to so many possibilities, performing, coaching and other sports. As a person it makes you very hard working, disciplined and respectful of others.
What kind of qualities will you need from your celebrity partner in order to train effectively?
The celebrity has to be able to understand their body and spatial awareness. They need to pick up little coaching points quickly and change mistakes to progress. Most importantly they need to be fun, kind and excited for every session to learn.
What advice would you give young people interested in taking up the sport?
The sport is great as it combines tumbling, strength moves, dance and interesting apparatus so it never becomes dull. You need to be naturally bouncy and flexible and have a strong mind to overcome fear as there is a lot of it, but apart from that it makes you build amazing confidence. To be able to achieve crazy skills with your body is priceless!
What do you do in your down time?
I love to do adventure sports, go karting, sky diving anything for an adrenaline rush. But most of my time is spent with my family, my cute nephews and going for nice chilling walks with my Jack Russell.
