How did you start off in gymnastics?
I can remember watching gymnastics on TV in the 1996 Olympics, turning around to my parents and saying, "I wanna do that!". They actually laughed! They agreed to take me to the local recreational class thinking that once I realised I was no good, I would give up! However to their disbelief - after two classes they got a phone call from the competitive club asking if I would join.
Can you tell us about your career so far?
My field is Acrobatic Gymnastics which is performed in partnerships. I hold various national and international titles, including two World Titles for 2006 and 2010.Then I became a member of the gymnastics troupe 'Spelbound' where I had the privilege of performing all of the world and performing several times for Royalty. We were lucky enough to feature in the 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony at which point my acrobatic partner and I formed our own act 'Brothers of Eden'. We now perform for a living at numerous events world wide.
What qualities does it take to compete professionally in gymnastics?
A lot of hard work and determination! People often think it's easy as the end result is made to look effortless. In reality it's a lot of blood, sweat and tears (literally!). Long hours with very early mornings and late nights so you need to be disciplined and have a strong mentality.
What kind of qualities will you need from your celebrity partner in order to train effectively?
I need my celebrity to have a good work ethic and a strong will to succeed. The more competitive they are the better! As this means they will be willing to put in the hard work to stay ahead of the rest of the competitors!
What advice would you give young people interested in taking up the sport?
Don't be afraid to go and try! Keep working too. Just because it's hard when you're starting out, it doesn't mean you're no good! Give 100% effort and you'll definitely make yourself proud.
What do you do in your down time?
I love food! The nature of gymnastics obviously means I have to monitor my diet. However, weekends are down time so I love trying out new restaurants or even a decent takeaway with mates. The way to my heart is definitely through my stomach!
Who is your sporting hero?
Growing up my sporting hero was always Matthew Pinsent. Four consecutive Olympic Golds, yet was often over shadowed in the media. Despite this he kept on going, showing true grit and determination to make his own mark. For me this shows an even greater strength in character, a quality which I will always admire.
What song is guaranteed to get you dancing?
We Found Love, Rihanna. Clich茅 I know as half the population says the same, but it's just such a CHA-HOOOOON!
Who would play you in a film of your life?
I'd like to say someone cool like Tom Hardy or Chris Hemsworth. But in reality it would probably be more along the lines of Matthew Perry, AKA Chandler Bing!
