Up, Up and nearly there!

Hi IB'ers,

Weathers a bit up and down at the moment, but we are 1/2 way there now.......Just had the next 300 blocks delivered so that will get us to the height of the extension.

I had Holly & Chris out with me Saturday, Holly was pointing in the little cement bits ( and done a good job too) she has asked me to change my name on the van to HOLLY BARNHAM & FRED!!!!!! I think she wants to take over the business.......while Chris was feeding me the cement & Blocks so we had a good head start and completed quite alot. Well I'll keep you posted.

Bye for now....Fred

What a great helper you have Fred. I'm sure she will always remember helping her dad build the house. That looks like a double wall construction, is there anything that is put between the walls for insulation, or is it just dead air space. CVBruce

Looking good--you are really making good progress with the addition. Looks like you had a lovely day for the photos! I like Holly's ambition!

thelovelyOutlander from still admiring your work

Good progress, Fred and Holly, or maybe that should be Holly and Fred... You'll definitely have to give us a floor plan, I am now confused as to the layout. Where does the door from the extension lead? and how does the conservatory fit in its present location? And what will the roof be like?

Jill from EK

I hadn't thought of that, CVB, of course Holly will always remember it, what a nice thought that is!

Jill from EK

As you know, Holly made you a very nice compliment, Fred. Congratulations. # Good to see the whole family pitching in. Wife and I, as well as a local worker, slaved in the garden over the long weekend. Can't complain: at least I did not have to think, but just did what I was told.

Rolling Acres needs you!

CVB, your right it cavity wall, and I will add insulation later maybe pumped in or poly chips which is easier. Thanks TLO she is a great help too more than Chris if I ever get him off the Xbox? Hi Jill, the extension is where the conservatory was leading off the kitchen...the consevatory is now in front of the house location, and as to the roof it my have to be a flat one as agreed by the planners, as to holly she will remember all these things at it is now her 2nd house helping, when she was 3 years old she used to get the dust pan and sweep up the sawdust, Holly is a great person always helping without asking, I love her to bits, with Chris he does help but there is alway a monetary deal attached lol. Good for you MJC, I just wish I could relax alittle....its just me ? I need to be doing something. F.C whats wrong with Rolling Acres I'm here if you need help.

Fred from Point

Reading about your insulation reminded me of our own house, which was new 14 years ago and has grey blocks inside and bricks outside, with slabs of what looks like pink polystyrene shoved in between the two layers. I watched them build the other houses round about, and this is how they did it. It seemed pretty easy...

Jill from EK

Its okay now Fred, thanks for asking. Fpu has just finished painting out the Woolies Bluebell blue ceiling with stencilled silver stars. Two coats of Cr**n white matt did the job. Though there's still the knackered out-of-date mixertap in the kitchen sink...and the skrekking garage up-and-over...

Flying Cat from an admiring glance...as ever

No problem F.C you know where I am if required lol. Hi Jill, yes your right it would have to be chippings now as the ties are in the wall, the main problem was I did not want these large sheets left around, I could see these panels blowing all over everybodies crofts?

Fred from Point

I guess gazing at silver stars on the ceiling beats freezing one's bum out to go outside and stare at the thick gray. Which room of Anorak Towers has this Masonic style (certainly not Bauhaus) decoration. The cleaned out attic?

mjc from IN, USA

It WAS the Master Bedroom...

Flying Cat from a hard stare

Hope the polychips keep their shape as the years roll by - I pulled down a 1910 wooden house where the cavities had been filled with sawdust. 60 years on the insulation was only covering the bottom 1/3 of each cavity.

Barney from Swithiod and sawdust

So you would only be warm by lying on the floor? It must have been a cat house...

Flying Cat from carpeted

He's had time to build another hoose by now...

Flying Cat from hullo??

He has been virtually building another house!! (well...not quite all of it)lol and a very good job he's done too.....theres no disgusting burgendy bathroom to be seen in my house any more thats for sure!. I should have started my own blog to record the transformation here as well. Thanks for everything Fred....now i've just got to finish painting that kitchen one day soon lol.......if only i had your motivation...... :-)

tanith from point

Well FC my extension is on the back burner at present BAD WEATHER. Aww Tanith your more that welcome, I have enjoyed doing the work for you it was a real pleasure....NOW get on with that decorating no slacking LOL

Fred from Point

Gosh. Thats Tws and Tanith sorted then...funny you should mention burgundy *shudder*...

Flying Cat from Two Loos

Iblogging will be no more, Fred. I expect I shall see you one of these days when I visit your part of the world. And if I don't, all the very best to you. Good to have known you too, Holly: may you grow up full of energy and kindness, perhaps even wisdom, and take good care of the old man (and Mrs. Fred).

mjc from IN, USA
