At last It's Arrived

I dont like sounding negative, but what a c**k up..........I ordered my kitchen with a large retailer on the mainland and before we ever got to the Isle I asked the sales assistence in Canterbury Kent do you deliver to HS2, so off he went to check a few minutes later he returned with a smile and said your trying to trick me? but yes we deliver there every once a month on a Tuesday.

So in October this year I ordered the kitchen and the computer asked me (when would you like it delivered) so I booked Tuesday 27th November as stated in the last couple of blogs back, well on the Monday 26th i though I would use he delivery tracking on my kitchen, it was showing table & 4 Chairs arriving 27th, Kitchen not delivered....So you can imaging my horror knowing the kitchen would not arrive after ripping out the old sink etc.

Tuesday morning came and I phoned the HO from where I order this kitchen and the friendly assistant said Oh your kitchen has been delivered.......then after a few choice words from me, he said its ok the kitchen is arriving as planned today, but there was a problem with the worktops and they will be with me on 16th January 2008.

After a few more words from me, they cancelled the worktop, then after ending the call, the phone rang.........it was a carrage company near Inverness telling me they have my kitchen when can I collect it?

To cut along story short I got a company in Inverness to get it to me, so on Friday 30th it arrived so you know what I will be doing this weekend.

As you can see I got the thumbs up from Holly (my daughter) who had her breakfast on Sunday morning, with table and chairs, very civilised.....Even Sarah took a picture of me working on the kitchen as it was completed by Saturday evening, just to add the corniche / Pelmets / plinths....oh and the worktops / sink......then Oak floor.

Now I need a rest?

It's like Challenge "Anneka"

Hi,

Well once again I have been cracking on as the festive season will soon be here, I cannot believe that it will be our 6 months here on the 20th December....has time flown.

The kitchen is almost complete the worktops are in, sink, Cornice, plinths, oak floor.....I have just vanished the floor hence writing this update.

We have ordered the tiles but due to the ferry's being out of schedule due to last weeks weather they have not arrived.....maybe this week who knows!

The roof is now complete and look's great its so nice not to have the tiles rattling around, including wind and water coming in......it has taken quite a few days to tidy up the mess left outside with bits of roofing tiles, off cuts of wood, cement.....and of course the grass has turned into mud due to towers, mixers, boots turning up the ground on those very wet days.

After the 4 days of constant winds and rain a week agos we had mud everywhere, so we put down a new path last Friday and Saturday, shame we had to do it by bucket? as the roofer took my wheel barrow by mistake?

The next thing I have to do ASAP is get the guttering put up, I will buy it this week, so it will give me something to do after boxing day LOL........only joking I am having a well deserved break with my family for 2 weeks, then back on the job again.

I think Sarah is pleased with her new kitchen, as she and Holly (my Daughter) are now having baking days together, and turning out some nice ginger bread biscuits and fairy cakes.

We are on schedule with the refurb on the house and all the large jobs are now complete, most the small works can now be completed indoors on those wet days over the bad months, which it the hallway, and completing the carpeting to the stairs, which has been sitting in my workshop.
