Bobbysocks landed a win for Norway in 1985 with 123 points, but it wasn’t the duos first or last appearance on Eurovision, Elisabeth had already taken part in 1982 for her native Sweden as one half of the group Chips, and Hanne had previously represented Norway in 1971 when she was just 15 years old.

In fact, aside from their combined victory as Bobbysocks, Hanne and Elisabeth have made it to the contest Finals a further five times: Hanne perfoming solo twice; and Elisabeth singing with Chips, with Jan Werner Danielsen in 1994, and as a solo artist in 1996.

But it was their performance as Bobbysocks that was particularly memorable as together they clinched Norway’s first ever win – a country that had suffered a bad run in the competition due to famously scoring nul points three times. Their win was later classified as the fourth greatest moment of Norwegian TV history.

Following their win, the single ‘La Det Swinge’ peaked at No. 1 in the Norwegian and Belgian singles chart. Other successes include being awarded the Peer Gynt Prize in 1985 by Norway’s Parliament; releasing a compilation album to celebrate 25 years since their Eurovision victory; and having Norway release an official stamp featuring the duo in 2010.
