The Biggest Danger of Wind Farms - no one has mentioned this

If the mornings of December 25ths in years to come are not moonlit then there is a grave danger of Santa and his reindeer crashing into a 300m turbine and no one from Barvas to Eoropie will get a new pair of slippers and the kids will get no toys. Can you imagine the debris on the Barvas moors? Santa's flight plan shows that he flies between crofts at 100 m above ground - any higher and he wouldn't be finished delivering by Hogamanay. So Brian Wilson and Alistair Darling with your grand plans - you're goosed by the man in red with white fur trimming and the Argyll wellies!

Yes calumannabel, you are, as ever quite correct, and Santa sends his thanks to you for pointing this out. Flight plans that have been used for centuries are under threat by these windyfarm mills things, the booze is taking the desired effectttt

Up here the companies employed bird counters to map out the flight plans of migrating birds, and to ensure any future pylons did not disrupt them. Unfortunately, these bird counters only work in the sumer months, there is no provision for Santa counting or mapping any potential flight lines.

Lerwick Trevor from Lerwick, Shetland Mainland

Does Santa do the Western Isles before the mainland? How would you interpret the salvage laws for the contents of his sacks. I foresee a time when Lewis celebrates Christmas on 26th with venison.

Nic from Coll

Surely you don't allow all that heathenish Chrissie pressie stuff on Lewis anyway. You'll be telling us next that people cook food on Christmas Day. Standards are slipping in the Western Isles.

Flying Cat from black books

Never quite coped with them moving yule forward a fortnight. Roll on Beltane is what I say.

Hyper-Borean from A hazy past

Me thinks that Santa has gone Hi Tech. I beleive he has invested in forward looking radar!! There are places in Yorkshire that have Windy Farms and he has not suffered any ill effects (allegedly).

SassenachDick from The Officers' Mess

DON'T WORRY CALUM BOY SANTA'S GOT TOM TOM I SAW HIM BUY IT IN WOOLIES LAST WEEK!

SHACKLED SHEEP from CURIOUS CROFTERS BEDROOM

Of course people don't cook food on Christmas Day in the western isles, FC! What strange ideas you have. The western islanders DRINK their food (or so I hear, but my hearing lately is not as good as it should be ...).

Is Tom Tom a top shelf gay magazine?

calumannabel from The Grotto Habost

I'm still confused, maybe a result of the Christmas cards my dad used to get from the rabbi. You mean Highland Park and all the other nice things, the ones that come from Islay in particular, are food? The local shaman who no longer uses the red and white fungus and so has lost his flying abilities can't help. I think I'll just fling another log on the the fire take another tincture and dream of a Tuesday in January.

Hyper-Borean from Between the andiron and the dog

Before I forget, happy holiday season to all of you (and no need to go in hock for me, thank you). # Whatever happened to Molinginish? Stranded in his holiday cabin in that beautiful area? Or did he take off for better climes after Annie Beag?

mjc from NM,USA

I am assured by the lady herself that Annie B will be back blogging in 07 as a valued member of the Fank Committee. Compliments of the season to you mjc.

calumannabel from ness

Annie Beag has better send me that prized marag soon. Otherwise she might well consider the better part of valor and join thewhitesettler in that spider hole ... # It's been several months, and I suspect the marag will have aged adequately. Before you know it, AB's marag will have done what the Guga did for Ness: put Stornoway on the map.

mjc from NM,USA

Annie B presented me with displaybox of white and blackpudding from Charlie Barleys's - proof that she's alive and well.

calumannabel from Lone Sheiling 17

Hello to mjc. I'm having a word with our favourite meat and game supplier and hope to be in touch soon. P.S.I hear they're thinking of producing tinned black pudding especially for posting to the States. Will "A Marag Can Express" be OK?

Annie B from The usual

A marag can express..........milk?

Flying Cat from the mattie

Annie B.: I am forwarding your note to both USDA and Homeland Security. Hard to tell which agency will be the first to realize the urgency of the situation and - how should I put it - "surge" into action?!

mjc from NM,USA

You're very flash with your acronyms Annie B.

calumannabel from USDAW HQ emporioalanjohn

Which Annie B.'s acronyms are you talking about Calum.? Seeing things again!? Did you have a heavy-duty weekend?

mjc from NM,USA

Maybe he meant to say 'a crony ms.'
