Road Charging in Lewis

I knew it - as soon as we got street lighting that would be it. I wondered how it would be paid for? Now we know. It's going to cost Aunt Ina to pick up her pension as Ness will become a congestion zone. We saw how easily they stuck the big windmills on us at Barvas. Next it'll be tolls booths on the Cross Skigersta road. I am starting a petition on the issue and with the help of fellow bloggers hipe to have 1/2million signatures by teatime tomorrow. Look out Tony Blair Ness is on the march...

Just a thought. You could charge the roads in Lewis by plugging them into the wind farm. By the way we are going up market we are getting a wave farm. Funny thing is, looking out of my window they seem to grow fine without cultivation.

March-on-Ness has a vaguely familiar ring to it.....

And another thing. The Gazette's saying that 'pedestrian traffic' has been monitored in Stornoway. Cheek or what? Hope the doctor doesn't find out about my visit to the Stag Bakery on the sly for a couple of mutton pies and a bag of Paris buns - and boy will some folks be in trouble if they got caught fetching a carry-out.

If we got wave farms right round the coast and operated them sequentially would we have a Mexican wave farm?

All these traffic meetings in today's Gazette are just a red herring - they are sorting out the congestion charges.

Has Calum cornered the market in red herrings?

A small Mexican wave farm would be just swell.

If they're monitoring pedestrians, it gets quite congested on the pavement outside Woolworths in town. Do you think there'll be a new Blethering Charge? Will we all get tolled off for loitering? We should be told. But not tolled.

It looks as if Kenneth Street is going to be the M25 of Lewis - suggest they put their road pricing cameras there.

I can think of a few more places, and people who are thinking about tax-ing the road, toll booths, children, and ott payments for the pleasure of driving on the one's and only's road! "Its mine! you want to drive on it you must pay the price (at yearly increases, doubtlessly) just because its mine! and not yours, Forget the council tax, in fact just forget the council. Forget Calmac, forget the pier, forget getting to the pier without going through the toll booths and the crap that no doubt will be, par for the road! We'll all have to go on a great big convoy and warn each other if we see bigbear.
