Hairdressing Tourists

Now that dentistry has become so expensive in the UK people are going to Hungary for cheap dentistry using the discount flights. I complained at Barvas this morning about diesel at 104.9 a litre but the lady who served me countered immediately by saying how much cheaper ladies' hairdressers are on Lewis than the mainland. Having a sunroof and only therefor half a head of hair this is no longer an issue for me but it did get me thinking. If subsidised ferry fares come to pass I can see Shearings coaches bringing dozens of women to the island for their shampoo and set. Will the Teasy Wesys of this island be able to cope? Will the island have enough laquer? This free ferry thing needs thinking through! Hairdressing tourism could regenerate the islands. Do we have anything else ( other than guga) that we do cheaper than the mainland?

I look forward to the Pete Cutting franchise arriving.

I quite agree with you. The diesel prize in Norway is ca. 1 拢 pr litre. I believe that people living in rural areas like us, should get the diesel without taxes. In the big cities where there are alternative tranport, the pirze should be higher.

I've had a few islanders take cheap shots at me. Is that the sort of thing your looking for. Talk is Cheap, well so they say, whoever they are, but it might be just as cheap on the mainland. Houses are cheaper, I think they are? Is that too big a scale?

Hairy subject, Calumannabel. And funnily enough, I stumbled across a Shearings coach at Dun Carloway on Tuesday, which nearly took my hairdo away. The petrol price is nothing compared to Stornoway, 107.9 pence per litre, which is a goody $9.70 per gallon.

He wasn't misplacing anything Carol...102.something here in Okney...and we've got an oil terminal at Flotta. It goes away crude to be processed and comes back dear. Toup茅 or not toup茅 that is the question.

Folks from Ness working on the Sporsnis Sports and Recreation Centre project were very disappointed earlier in the summer when the firm contracted to fit the 10-pin bowling alley went bankrupt before the work was completed but after taking 拢50,000 of locally raised funds. They could do with all the support they can get after this blow. Pehaps a curling rink could be an alternative money spinner?

Suggested new Lewis salon franchises up for grabs? Curly-Ness, Atlantic Rollers, Beachcombers (or the specialist department - Beachcombovers), the Dye Peninsula and Kyles Scalp Hey! Is this the sort of coiffing creativity you're looking for?
